ModusLink Earns a Spot on 2009 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America

ModusLink increases customer satisfaction through improved system integration

MONARCH BEACH, Calif. and WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 15, 2009-- ModusLink Global Solutions, Inc. was selected for the 2009 InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. ModusLink was recognized for its work to improve system messaging between its integrated, global IT network and its customers’ ERP systems. The 2009 InformationWeek 500 companies were revealed on September 14, 2009 at an awards ceremony held during the InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California.

“Our clients turn to us for our expertise in managing critical supply chain processes. Ensuring our IT architecture can seamlessly integrate with our clients’ systems is intrinsic to our success,” said Matthew Dattilo, chief information officer for ModusLink Global Solutions. “System messaging is a key component of that integration and in 2008 we decided to update our messaging platforms to improve performance.”

During 2008 ModusLink invested significantly to replace its communication layer platform with an industry standard, robust solution to eliminate lost messages and increase the integrity of the data. The company also converted any customers on legacy platforms to its strategic messaging platform and expanded its use of validation logic to catch messages with inaccurate data earlier. Message tracking capabilities were added to the platform using Microsoft’s message-oriented middleware MOM tool. The result was no lost messages and significant improvement in customer satisfaction.

“For over 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. “Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year’s winners, and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the center of business technology innovation.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, now in its 21st year, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
